Giving staff the stamp, not your password

24 October 2026 · 4 min read

How to let every barista give loyalty stamps from the till without sharing your login, and what happens when someone leaves.

The quickest way to let staff stamp loyalty cards is to give them the owner’s password. It is also how a shop ends up with a former employee who can still change its prices, its page and its billing.

Pair a phone instead

In Team, press Pair their phone under a team member, or Add a shared phone for the till iPad. A QR code appears for five minutes and works once. Scan it with the phone, or type the six-digit code under it at thetap.shop/staff, and that phone is paired.

A paired phone does three things: shows your page, scans customers’ cards and gives stamps, and shows your page’s QR code. It can’t edit anything.

When someone leaves

Press Remove beside their phone. It is locked out at once, and nothing else changes: no password to reset, no other phones to re-pair.

Seeing who gave what

On Pro and Premium, Stamps by staff shows how many stamps each person and phone gave. It counts stamps per phone, never per customer, so it tells you how busy the till was, not who your regulars are. The free plan includes 1 staff phone. See the staff app.
